I n t r o d u c t i o n
The Matrox Iris E-Series is a family of powerful smart cameras with an intuitive
flowchart-based integrated development environment (IDE) called Matrox
Design Assistant. Systems integrators and professional end-users can easily and
quickly develop and deploy machine vision applications on a highly integrated
platform without the need for traditional programming skills. The integrated
development environment provides access to a comprehensive set of
highly-efficient and field-proven image analysis and measurement tools.
Matrox Iris E-Series features an Intel-architecture processor and Microsoft
Windows CE .NET, a real-time operating system. Matrox Iris E-Series uses an
interline transfer, progressive scan, CCD image sensor with square pixels. The
sensors provide an externally triggered electronic shutter.
The Intel-architecture processor is an Intel Ultra Low Voltage (ULV) Celeron
processor with an Intel 440MX companion interface bridge. The 64-Mbyte flash
disk provides in-camera (on-board) storage for both the operating system and
additional data. The 128-Mbyte SDRAM memory provides in-camera (on-board)
volatile storage.
The primary difference between the different smart cameras in the Matrox Iris
E-Series family of products are: the sensor chip size, the effective resolution, color,
and effective frame rates, as shown in the following table:
