Note that, since the IP address of your Matrox Iris E-Series is automatically
generated by default, you cannot casually determine its IP address to access it,
regardless of whether your Matrox Iris E-Series is on a LAN or a peer-to-peer
network.
Without a DHCP server to store the association between your Matrox Iris
E-Series's IP address and its name, you cannot access your Matrox Iris E-Series by
its name, unless your computer is aware of this association. This association must
be stored locally on your computer in a DNS (domain name service) resolver
cache. Use the Matrox Discovery utility to find your Matrox Iris E-Series smart
camera and create this association.
The following diagram shows the tasks required to configure both your computer
and your Matrox Iris E-Series. Each step is described in its own section, later in
this chapter.
