The IP address of your Matrox Iris E-Series must be on the same subnet as your
LAN. This section assumes your LAN uses a subnet other than 169.254.
If you have no intention of using DHCP, you should disable both DHCP and
Auto IP and use a static IP address that is on your LAN's subnet, refer to the Set
a static IP address and subnet mask subsection, later in this section.
If, however, you intend to switch between using a static IP address and DHCP,
you should obtain a static IP address through AutoIP, as follows. You should first
change the default subnet used by Auto IP. This assures that the automatically
generated IP addresses are on the same subnet as your LAN; to do so, proceed to
the Modify your Auto IP settings subsection. Next, save the current Auto IP address
to the hardware so that Auto IP uses the same IP address the next time your Matrox
Iris E-Series reboots; to do so, proceed to the Recycle your IP address subsection.
Recycling your IP address simplifies accessing your Matrox Iris E-Series.
to proceed and at least temporarily be connected in a peer-to-peer configuration.
If your computer is on a different subnet, refer to the Change your computer's subnet
address section, earlier in this chapter.
