Without knowing the IP address of your Matrox Iris E-Series (or without already
having its IP address associated with its name), the only way to find your Matrox
Iris E-Series is to use the Matrox Discovery utility. The Matrox Discovery utility
will find all Matrox Iris smart cameras (P-Series and E-Series) on the same subnet
as your computer and allow you to create and save the association between the IP
address and name of the required smart camera. Once this association is saved to
your computer, you can access your Matrox Iris E-Series using its name rather
than its IP address.
The Matrox Discovery utility, installed with Matrox Design Assistant, is located
in the Matrox Design Assistant\tools\utilities folder on your computer.
To access and use the Matrox Discovery utility:
1. Open Windows Explorer and browse to the Matrox Design Assistant installation
folder. Open the Tools\uilities folder. Then, open the discovery.htm file in Microsoft
Internet Explorer.
❖ Note that a security or pop-up warning might appear. Click on the warning and
allow the blocked content. Click on the OK button of any message or warning
that might appear in this process.
2. Click on the Discovery button.
If successful, a list of all Matrox Iris smart cameras on your network will be
displayed, along with their respective information. If, however, your computer
does not meet the requirements of the Matrox Discovery utility, an error will occur.
❖ Note that the Matrox Discovery utility will find all Matrox Iris smart cameras
indiscriminately. The smart camera's model name specifies whether the smart
camera is a P-Series or an E-Series.
