After connecting the power cable to your Matrox Iris E-Series, a series of steps are
executed to start Microsoft Windows CE .NET. These steps occur within the boot
loader.
B o o t l o a d e r
The boot loader is the first code executed on Matrox Iris E-Series when you power
up. The boot loader performs the following:
• Critical execution. Initializes the hardware and starts the bootloader.
• Full diagnostic: Examines the device and reports the errors found.
• Initialization and Power On Self Test (POST): Finishes initializing the hardware
and performs summary power on self tests.
• Loads the operating system: Loads Microsoft Windows CE .NET in RAM.
