Installing a Replacement Disk Drive

1. Physically install the replacement disk drive (see the Operator Guide or Service
Guide for the unit).
2. If the failed disk drive has been exchanged for a hot spare disk drive, change the
use of the new disk drive to Hot Spare Disk (see "Changing or Showing the Use
of an SSA Disk Drive" on page 144). Run system diagnostics to verify that the disk
drive is working correctly.
If no hot spare disk drive was available when the original disk drive failed, the
array is now in the Exposed state or in the Degraded state. Change the use of the
new disk drive to Array Candidate Disk (see "Changing or Showing the Use of an
SSA Disk Drive" on page 144), and continue with this procedure to add the new
disk drive to the array.
3. For fast path, type
Otherwise:
a. Select Change Member Disks of an SSA RAID Array from the SSA RAID
b. Select Swap Members of an SSA RAID Array.
4. A list of arrays is displayed:
Select the array into which you are installing the replacement disk drive. This array
is listed as exposed or degraded.
Arrays menu.
and press Enter.
