    This chapter describes how to install and cable the Remote Supervisor Adapter II in supported xSeries servers and how to download software and firmware files from the IBM Support Web site. (See Table 1 on page 12 for a list of supported xSeries servers.)

    Installing the adapter Complete the following steps to install the Remote Supervisor Adapter II in an xSeries server: 1. Turn off the server and attached devices, and disconnect all power cords and external cables. 2. Remove the server from the rack cabinet (if applicable).

    Planning and cabling your ASM interconnect network To support the most recent ASM features, a Remote Supervisor Adapter II must be the main gateway to your ASM interconnect network if the network also includes servers with Remote Supervisor Adapters, ASM PCI adapters, ASM processors, or ISMPs.
