10.4.1 Preliminary Checks

The preliminary checks take about 15 minutes to perform. Refer to the Voluson E-Series user documentation
whenever necessary.

Table 10-3 system checks
Description
Ask the customer if they have any problems or questions about the equipment.
Turn the system power on and verify that all fans and peripherals turn on.
Watch the displays during power up to verify that no warning or error messages are displayed.
Verify that the ultrasound system properly recognizes all probes.
Verify proper display on the LCD monitor and Touch Panel (when present).
"Full Backup" all customer presets onto appropriate media (see:
Configuration (Full Backup)" on page 4-15
Backup the Image Archive onto appropriate media (see:
page 4-20
).

Verify basic B Mode (2D) operation. Check the basic ultrasound system controls that affect this mode
of operation.
Verify basic M Mode operation. Check the basic ultrasound system controls that affect this mode of
operation.
Verify basic CFM Mode (Color Flow Mode) operation. Check the basic ultrasound system controls that
affect this mode of operation.
Verify basic PD Mode (Power Doppler Mode) operation. Check the basic ultrasound system controls
that affect this mode of operation.
Verify basic Doppler Mode operation (PW and CW if available). Check the basic ultrasound system
controls that affect this mode of operation.
Verify basic 3D Mode operation. Check the basic ultrasound system controls that affect this mode of
operation.
Verify basic RealTime 4D Mode operation. Check the basic ultrasound system controls that affect this
mode of operation.
Verify the basic operation of all optional modes. Check the basic system controls that affect each
option`s operation.
Perform the Keyboard Test Procedure to verify that all keyboard controls are OK.
Verify basic LCD Monitor display functions.
Verify basic Touch Panel display functions.
