What to do in the event of malfunctions
Problem
Surgical field illumination on
microscope not working.
Focusing system inoperative.
Zoom system inoperative.
Motorized focusing and /or
zoom function of surgical mi-
croscope is inoperative.
Microscope motion too stiff.
DeepView (DoF) inoperative.
Foot control panel is inopera-
tive.

Possible cause
Light guide not properly in-
serted in microscope.
Failure of suspension system
electronics.
Lamp module in stand has no
contact.
Defective main and backup
lamps.
Thermal cut-out in lamp
housing has been activated.
Focusing system does not
work, or moves to upper or
lower end position.
Zoom system does not work,
or moves to upper or lower
end position.
Failure of suspension system
electronics.
Friction adjusting knob on
suspension system tightened
too firmly.
DeepView is on mechanical
end stop.
See Instructions for Use of
foot control panel.
Remedy
Insert light guide as far as it
will go.
Illuminate surgical field using
an OR illuminator.
Contact Service.
Insert lamp module as far as it
will go.
Change lamp or insert backup
lamp module.
Remove the cause of over-
heating. For example, drapes
could be covering the ventila-
tion grid of the lamp housing.
When the lamp module has
cooled down, the illumination
switches on again.
Use suspension arm to set
correct focal plane.
Contact Service.
Manually adjust magnifica-
tion using zoom knob.
Contact Service.
Manually adjust focusing and
/ or zoom on surgical micro-
scope.
Loosen friction adjustment.
Press DeepView button to de-
activate the function.
