Optimizing on the surgical microscope
For optimum visualization of the red reflex on the surgical microscope, please
check that:
• the objective lenses are free from contamination,
• the light guide is undamaged and correctly connected,
• the lamp is properly seated in the lamp socket,
• all protection filters have been correctly swung into the beam path,
• the microscope is in the correct working position (the patient's eye must
correspond with the optical axis of the microscope),
• you use the f = 200mm objective lens, if available.
Optimization on the monitor
For optimum visualization of the red reflex on the monitor, please make the
following settings:
• Activate the integral light metering function of the camera to reduce re-
flections from the sclera and cornea (see Instructions for Use of the cam-
era).
• If the camera adapter is equipped with an iris diaphragm, the latter should
be removed prior to ophthalmic applications (see Instructions for Use of
the camera).
• Increase the brightness of illumination, if necessary.
