6.6.3 Chest belt

The chest belt stabilises and positions the upper body in relation to the backrest.

6.6.3.1 Adaptation

Small length adjustments of the belt by the user or an attendant (e.g. for clothing of different thickness) are pos
sible.
Positioning the user in the seat
Place the user in an upright, 90° seated position.
Ensure that the back is up against the backrest padding.
The chest belt is intended to support the area over the sternum (breastbone) from the front. This is accom
plished when two fingers fit comfortably between the top of the belt and the armpit.
Possible positioning errors
The user's hips are not secured with a separate lap belt (see Page 17).
If the positioning system is too loose, the user can shift forward/slide down.
The positioning system collides with devices, accessories or supply hoses during installation and adjustment,
restricting their functionality.
The positioning system makes contact above the user's sternum (too high) or in the area of the soft part of the
stomach (too low).

Applying the lap belt
Prerequisite: Note the positioning instructions in
>
the previous section.
1) Push the 2 halves together until the buckle engages
with an audible click.
WARNING! The lap belt has to fit closely but
not too tightly so the user is not injured. It
should be possible to slide two fingers com
fortably between the strap and thigh.
2) Pull to check that it is secure.
Opening the lap belt
1) Press the release button.
2) Open the belt buckle and lay the belt to the side.
Changing the length of the chest belt
The width of the belt is changed by adjusting the length
of the left and right belt parts. Excess belt length is
taken up by the plastic slider.
1) Fasten the belt (see following section).
2) Lengthen or shorten the belt at the belt buckle.
3) Verify that the adjustment is correct.
WARNING! The chest belt is intended to sup
port the area over the sternum (breastbone)
from the front.
WARNING! Ensure that the chest belt lies
against the chest evenly on both sides and is
not too tight. It should be possible to slide two
fingers comfortably between the chest belt and
upper body.
