Basic Configuration for an Enterprise

Configuring the Operational Mode

1. Navigate to Configuration > Wireless > Interface 1 > Properties.
2. Configure the following parameters:
Status: Select the Status checkbox to enable the wireless interface properties.
Operational Mode: Select the Operational Mode. It indicates the operational mode of the unit.
NOTE: You can select the legacy Dot11g/a modes only after changing the current channel bandwidth to 20 MHz,
otherwise these options would not be available.
Current Bandwidth: Select the channel bandwidth. By default it is set to 40 MHz.
Auto Channel Selection: Enable or disable the Auto Channel Selection for wireless interface. By default it is set
to Disable.
Current Operating Channel: This will display the current operating channel on which wireless interface is
operating. If you have enabled Auto Channel Selection, then the Current Operating Channel is automatically
selected and it also lists the other channels that are available.
Click OK.
Click Commit and then Reboot for the changes to take effect.

Password Management

For security reasons, Proxim recommends you to change the default passwords of the device thus restricting the access
to your network to authorized personnel.
To change the password,
1. Navigate to Management > Services.
2. Configure the following parameters.
HTTP/HTTPS: Change the password for the Web Interface by entering a new password in the Password box.
The password should be of minimum 6 and maximum of 32 characters. By default, the password is public.
Telnet/SSH: Change the password for the Command Line Interface (via serial or Telnet) by entering a new
password in the Password box. The password should be of minimum 6 and maximum of 32 characters. By
default, the password is public.
SNMP:
— Read Password: Change the password for Read access to the AP using SNMP interface by entering a new
password in the Read Password box. The password should be of minimum 6 and maximum of 32 characters.
By default, the password is public.
— Read/Write Password: Change the password for Read/Write access to the AP using SNMP interface by
entering a new password in the Read/Write Password box. The password should be of minimum 6 and
maximum of 32 characters. By default, the password is public.
— Trap Host IP Address: Enter the IP Address for which the traps needs to be delivered.
Click OK.
Click Commit and then Reboot for the changes to take effect.

Configuring the Security Profile

To configure Wireless Security Profile,
1. Navigate to Configuration > Security > Wireless Security. The Wireless Security Configuration page appears.
2. To edit an existing entry, click the Edit icon. The Wireless Security Edit Row page appears.
3. Modify the required parameters and click ok.
