SYMPTOM
1. Chatter.
2. Aggressive
(grabby).
3. Insufficient release.

PROBABLE CAUSE
a. Loose, broken, or worn engine mounts.
b. Loose or cracked clutch housing.
c. Rear axle attach bushings worn.
d. Misalignment.
e. Oil or grease on facings.
f. Warped or bent driven disc assembly.
g. Improper disc facing thickness.
h. Worn pilot bearing.
i. Wrong spring pressure in the cover
assembly.
j. Cross shaft bushings worn.
k. Release levers not parallel.
a. Excessive backlash in the power train.
b. Warped driven disc.
c. Worn driven disc hub splines.
d. Worn splines on transmission input
shaft.
e. Improper facing material.
a. Broken or loose engine mounts.
b. Excessive idling speed.
c. Loose or worn facings.
d. Improper facing thickness.
e. Drive lugs binding.
f. Pressure plate return springs bent or
stretched.
g. Insufficient amount of release travel.
h. Lever nose out of groove in release
sleeve retainer.

POWER TRAIN
SOLUTION
a. Tighten or replace mounts.
b. Tighten or replace.
c. Replace bushings.
d. Align.
e. Install new facings or disc assembly.
f. Replace.
g. Install proper disc assembly.
h. Replace.
i. Adjust or replace springs in cover
assembly.
j. Replace the bushings.
k. Recheck installation.
a. Worn parts. Make repairs.
b. Install a new disc assembly.
c. Install a new disc assembly.
d. Replace shaft.
e. Install proper driven disc assembly.
a. Tighten or replace.
b. Adjust to factory specifications.
c. Replace.
d. Install the proper driven disc assembly.
e. Check pressure plate drive lugs for
proper clearance 0.15 mm (0.006 in).
f. Replace springs.
g. Adjust for proper release travel.
h. Disassemble and repair as necessary.
