[3] LIST OF MALFUNCTION SYMPTOM

Malfunctions and corresponding symptoms resulting from the CRS may also be generated from other sources,
such as the engine (mechanical parts), the fuel system, etc. When performing CRS troubleshooting, the aim is not to
quickly determine that the CRS is the cause of a malfunction. Rather, the cause should be exhaustively considered
while verifying the causes listed below.

COMMON RAIL SYSTEM
Action
Switch to the correct fuel (No.2-D diesel fuel).
Change engine oil.
Replace with the appropriate engine oil (API
Service Classification CF grade or higher).
Replace oil pump.
Add engine oil.
Clean or replace air cleaner element.
Perform fuel system air bleeding.
Replace fuel filter.
Switch to the correct fuel (No.2-D diesel fuel).
Overhaul engine.
Refer to "Engine Overheat" items.
Clean or replace air cleaner element.
Add fuel and perform fuel system air bleeding.
Clean the fuel system.
Clean or replace.
Tighten connections.
Replace fuel filter.
Replace fuel feed pump.
Tighten connecting nut.
Inspect battery.
Replace starter wiring.
Tighten battery terminal connections, or replace
cables.
Replace starter assembly.
Replace starting assist device (intake air heater).
Replace with oil of appropriate viscosity.
Replace piston, piston ring and cylinder block.
Replace main bearing and crankshaft.
Overhaul engine.
Flywheel / starter replacement.
Adjust valve clearance.
Break in valve and valve seat, or replace.
Perform warm-up operation.
Overhaul engine.
