10 | Charging batteries in vehicles with CAN bus system
On motorcycles with CAN bus technology, the vehicle socket is generally controlled
by the main processor. The ProCharger 10.000 sends voltage pulses to the
vehicle socket. The motorcycle's processor detects the connected charger and
enables the vehicle socket if required (depending on the charge level in the
battery). The ProCharger 10.000 does not deliver any harmful voltage pulses to
the engine electronics in order to check the CAN bus vehicle socket, which means
that other electrical equipment, such as GPS sat navs, can remain permanently
connected.
•Before using the ProCharger 10.000 in "CAN bus" mode, first read
the Instructions for Use thoroughly. It is imperative that you follow the
instructions from the vehicle and battery manufacturer.
•In CAN bus mode, the following functions are not possible, or are
limited by the vehicle's processor: Trickle charging, desulphation and
fault detection.
•After connecting the charger to the power supply and setting the battery
type using the "Mode" and "6V / 12V" buttons, no further settings
on the ProCharger 10.000 are required, apart from selecting CAN bus
mode by pressing the TYPE button. Nor is it necessary to turn the
ignition key to activate the CAN bus vehicle system. The ProCharger
10.000 activates the CAN bus system automatically.
If you wish to use all the functions of the charger, connect the ProCharger 10.000
directly to the battery, following the Instructions for Use.
11 | Charging LiPo- and Li-ion vehicle batteries
The "Li-ion" LED indicates the charging of lithium polymer/lithium-ion vehicle
batteries. This mode is exclusively designed for 12 V vehicle batteries which
operate with lithium-ion or lithium polymer or lithium iron phosphate cells.
• Before using the ProCharger 10.000 in "Li-ion" mode, first read the
Instructions for Use thoroughly. It is imperative that you follow the
instructions from the vehicle and battery manufacturer.
• The "Trickle charging" program is only carried out once every 24 hours.
The purpose of trickle charging is to top up the battery.
• Desulphation mode is not performed.

12 | Quick connector

You can use the ProCharger quick connector to connect charger clamp cables, ring
terminal cables and other compatible ProCharger accessories to the ProCharger
charger. To do so, both parts of the quick connector are joined together so
that they engage. The plug-in system of the quick connector is reverse polarity
protected and can only be connected in one position.
To disconnect, you need to actuate the red rocker on the adapter and release the
plug-in connector by gently pulling it apart. Never pull or push on the cable. Always
grip the housing of the plug-in connector.
Only use compatible accessories for your ProCharger.

13 | Ring terminal cable

The ring terminal cable is designed for permanent connection to the vehicle
battery. First disconnect the motorcycle earth connection from the battery. Then,
screw the red ring terminal (positive) of the ring terminal cable onto the battery's
positive terminal. Then, screw the black ring terminal (negative) of the ring
terminal cable together with the motorcycle's earth connection onto the battery's
negative terminal. Carry out the above steps with care. It is imperative that you
avoid short-circuits and make sure the contact is secure. The ring terminal cable
must be attached to the vehicle in such a way that it cannot be trapped, does
not rest directly on the hot engine and is kept away from all moving parts. Since
this is a universal product, you must make sure that the ring terminal cable can
be used properly and without problems with your type of vehicle before using
it for the fi rst time. It is imperative that you adhere to the specifi cations and
instructions from the vehicle and battery manufacturer.
