WARNING!
Risk of explosion and fire!
•Never attempt to charge frozen batteries.
•Do not smoke and always avoid naked fl ames, naked light and
sparks in the vicinity of acid batteries. There is a danger of
explosion from detonating gas.
•When charging batteries which are not maintenance-free, leave
the cells open during the entire charging process so that any
emitted gases can escape.
CAUTION!
Risk of chemical burns!
•Batteries may contain aggressive and corrosive acids which
can damage the skin and eyes. Avoid any physical contact with
the battery fl uid. In case of contact with battery fl uid, rinse
the affected part of the body with copious amounts of water.
If your eyes come into contact with battery acid, rinse them
out under running water for at least 5 minutes. Consult your
doctor immediately.
•Wear protective goggles, acid-resistant protective gloves and
protective clothing when you work with batteries. Do not touch
your eyes while you are working with batteries.
•Do not inhale the emitted gases and vapours.
IMPORTANT!
Risk of damage!
•To avoid damage to batteries, it is essential to ensure that
they are never deeply discharged.
•If lead batteries are stored for a longer period, charge them
occasionally, i.e. at least every 3 months, in order to prevent
deep discharge.
•Check the level of battery fl uid in batteries which are not
maintenance-free. If the fl uid in one or more cells has dropped
below the minimum level, top up with deionised water until the
36
level reaches the fi lling mark. Do not under any circumstances
use normal tap water or battery acid to top up.
•The liquid level in batteries which are not maintenance-free
must be checked regularly, also during longer periods of
storage (over the winter). Wear protective goggles!
If you have any questions on the battery specifications, please contact
the battery manufacturer.
