Process Application Programming Interface. PAPI controls channels for ARM
and Wireless Intrusion Detection System (WIDS) communication to the mas-
ter controller. A separate PAPI control channel connects to the local control-
ler where the SSID tunnels terminate.
Policy-based Routing. PBR provides a flexible mechanism for forwarding
data packets based on polices configured by a network administrator.
Power Distribution Unit or Protocol Data Unit. Power Distribution Unit is a
device that distributes electric power to the networking equipment located
within a data center. Protocol Data Unit contains protocol control Information
that is delivered as a unit among peer entities of a network.
Protected Extensible Authentication Protocol. PEAP is a type of EAP com-
munication that addresses security issues associated with clear text EAP
transmissions by creating a secure channel encrypted and protected by TLS.
Policy Enforcement Firewall. PEF also known as PEFNG provides context-
based controls to enforce application- layer security and prioritization. The
customers using Aruba mobility controllers can avail PEF features and ser-
vices by obtaining a PEF license. PEF for VPN users—Customers with PEF
for VPN license can apply firewall policies to the user traffic routed to a con-
troller through a VPN tunnel.

Perfect Forward Secrecy. PFS refers to the condition in which a current ses-
sion key or long-term private key does not compromise the past or subse-
quent keys.
Per-hop behavior. PHB is a term used in DS or MPLS. It defines the policy
and priority applied to a packet when traversing a hop (such as a router) in a
DiffServ network.
Protocol-Independent Multicast. PIM refers to a family of multicast routing
protocols for IP networks that provide one-to-many and many-to-many distri-
bution of data over a LAN, WAN, or the Internet.
Personal Identification Number. PIN is a numeric password used to authenti-
cate a user to a system.
Public-key cryptography standard n. PKCS#n refers to a numbered standard
related to topics in cryptography, including private keys (PKCS#1), digital
certificates (PKCS#7), certificate signing requests (PKCS#10), and secure
storage of keys and certificates (PKCS#12).
