Overview

The engineering system (ES)
SIRIUS ES is the shared software platform for different communication-enabled switching
devices.
The Modular Safety System ES 2008 (MSS ES) engineering system is the software for
configuring and parameterizing the Modular Safety System (MSS) 3RK3.
It provides the following functions:
● Simple configuration of the modules of an MSS including graphical parameterization of
the safety functions
● Test and startup functions, e.g. device diagnostics, monitoring of logic functions, forcing
of logic functions
● Tool for creating the system documentation, e.g. documentation of the circuits, device
comments, module names
Communication
MSS ES communicates with the MSS via the X1 interface of the central unit (PC/PG
connected to X1 on the 3RK3 Basic via the PC cable) or, if the DP interface is connected, via
its interface (PC cable to X1 of the DP interface. X1 on the 3RK3 Basic is connected to X2 of
the DP interface) or, if the diagnostics module is connected, via its interface on the front
(S1).

Delivery form
The Modular Safety System ES 2008 (MSS ES) is available on CD ROM as a floating
license.
The MSS ES parameterization software is available in two different ranges of functions:
