Ball Joint Boot Replacement
Remove the set ring and the boot.
CAUTION: Do not contaminate the boot installa-
tion section with grease.
Pack the interior of the boot and lip with grease.

Wipe ofl the grease.
3. Wipe the grease off the sliding surface of the ball
pin and pack with fresh grease.
GAUTION:
. Keep grease off the boot installation section and
the taper€d section of the ball pin.
. Do not allow dust, dirt, or other loreign matcri-
als to enter the boot.
lnstall the boot in the groove of the boot installation
section securely, then bleed air.
lnstall the upper and lower ball joint boot set rlngs
using the special tools as follows:
L o w e r b a l l j o i n t : A d j u s t t h e s p e c i a l t o o l w i t h t h e
adjusting bolt until the end of the tool aligns with
the groove on the boot. Slide the set ring over the
tool and into position.
BOOT INSTALLANON SECTION
Wipe otf the grease.

CAUTION: Aftei installing the boot, check rhe batl
pin tapered section for grease contamination and
wipe it il necessary.

Removal
Remove the front wheels (see page 18-10).
R e m o v e t h e d a m p e r p i n c h b o l t f r o m t h e t o p o f
damper fork,

SELF.LOCKING NUT
12 x 1.25 mm
Replace.
Remove the damper fork bolt and self-locking nut
from the bottom of the damper fork, then remove
damper fork.
Remove the damper by removing the two nuts.
