bushing ('98 model) into the valve housing using a
hydraulic press and special tool as shown.
NOTE: Place the roller bearing ('96 -'97 model) or
bushing ('98 model) on the valve housing with the
s t a m p e d l e t t e r f a c i n g ( ' 9 6 - ' 9 7 m o d e l o n l y ) u p
towards the valve side.

ROLLER BEARING
Letter stamped face

Apply vinyl tape to the pinion shaft, then coat the
vinyltape with power steering fluid.
Sealing lip lace.
VALVE OIL SEAL
VALVE HOUSING
PINION

SLEEVE SEAL RINGS
Replace.
Be sure that the
sear fings are not
turned up, then
anstall.
22. Insert the pinion shaft into the valve housing.
CAUTION: Bo carotul not to damage the valve seal
rin9s.
23. Remove the vinyl tape from the pinion shaft.

N O T E : C h e c k t h a t t h e p i n i o n s h a f t / s l e e v e t u r n s
smoothly by turning the pinion shaft,
