Removal

SRS component locations, precautions, and procedures
in the SRS section (24) before performing repairs or ser-
v i c e .
N O T E : B e f o r e r e m o v i n g t h e s t e e r i n g w h e e l , a l i g n t h e
front wheels straight ahead.
' 1 . R e m o v e t h e d r i v e r ' s a i r b a g a s s e m b l y f r o m t h e
steering wheel (see section 24).
2 . D i s c o n n e c t t h e h o r n c o n n e c t o r a n d c r u i s e c o n t r o l
switches connector.

Remove the steering wheel nut.

Replace.

Remove the steering wheel by rocking it slightly from
side to side as you pull steadily with both hands.
lnstallation
CAUTION: Do not tap on the steering wheel or steering
column shaft when installing the steering wheel.
N O T E : B e f o r e i n s t a l l i n g t h e s t e e r i n g w h e e l , a l i g n t h e
front wheels straight ahead.
1 . B e f o r e i n s t a l l i n g t h e s t e e r i n g w h e e l , c e n t e r t h e
cable reel. Do this by first rotating the cable reel
clockwise until it stops. Then rotate it counterclock-
wise approximately two turns. The arrow mark on
the cable reel label should points straight up.
lnstall the steering wheel with the steering wheel
nut.
N O T E : B e s u r e t h e s t e e r i n g w h e e l s h a f t e n g a g e s
the cable reel and canceling sleeve.

3. Attach the cruise control switches connector to the
s t e e r i n g w h e e l c l i P .
Connect the horn connector.

proper operations.
