NOTE: Before testing, check proper operation of the ELD by confirming with the MIL (see section 11).
BATTERY
CAUTION: Be sure to use a voltmet€r
with its plus terminal conn€cted to bat,
tery plus and i$ minus torminal to the
4P connector temrinal No. 2.

Chock for a short in tha circuit
(Al-TC linel:
1, Reconnect the 4P connector
to the alternator.
2. Start the engine, and turn the
headlights (high beam) ON.
3. Measure voltage between the
4P connector terminal No. 2
and the positive terminal of
the baftery.
ls there 1 V or less?
Check for an open in the wire
IALTC linel:
1 . T u r n t h e h e a d l a g h t a n d i g n i -
taon switch OFF.
2. Disconnect the 32P connector
from the ECM/PCM.
3. Check for continuity between
the ECM/PCM 32P connector
terminal No. 19 and alternator
4P connector terminal No, 2.
Rep.i. open in tho wi.e bolwocn
the.lternator.nd ECM/PCM.
ls there continuity?
Check for short in the wire {ALTC
line):
1 . T u r n t h e h e a d l i g h t a n d i g n i
tion switch OFF.
2. Disconnect the 32P connector
from the EClvl/PcM.
3. Check for continuity between
the ECM/PCM 32P connector
t e r m i n a l N o . 1 9 a n d b o d y
grouno,
Substitute a known-good ECM/
PCM, and recheck.

able, replace the original ECM/
PCM,
ls there continuity?
Repair short in th€ wi.e betwe€n
th€ alte.nator and ECM/PCM.
