This appendix includes procedures for replacing a failed disk on each type
of VCX server. If a disk drive failure occurs on a VCX server, use the
appropriate procedure in this appendix to replace the failed disk and
bring the VCX server back into service.
CAUTION: All servers in a VCX system must be running the same version
of the VCX software. If you replace a failed disk on any server, you must
upgrade the software on the replacement disk to the VCX software
version that is running on:
The partner server in a primary/secondary pair
The other servers in the VCX system (for example, a Call Records
server or a server in a multisite VCX Connect system)
For a server with a RAID disk array, the process of aligning the software
version of the replacement disk happens during the recovery stage of the
process. No separate software upgrade is required.
Some VCX servers use RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks)
technology. This section describes how to replace a failed RAID disk.
A RAID disk failure generates an SNMP (System Network Management
Protocol) trap message. Network management software uses such a trap
message to change the visible status of the VCX server and alert you of a
problem.
To identify a failed disk on a VCX server, log in on the server and enter
this command:
vcx-raid-status
You can obtain more or less information by using one of these
commands:
