initiate the process, start the BBTalk program, send a BREAK to wake up the H-ADCP, and send CR1.
Then on the menu bar, click File and then the Recover Recorder... selection. This process will ask you
to select your recording directory path. After selecting the path and clicking OK, BBTalk will then display
the H-ADCP recorder's contents.
To recover the entire recorder, click the Select All Files checkbox, and then click OK. When the entire
recorder has been recovered, the BBTalk program will display "Recovery Complete".

Recover a Single File Using Direct Commands

Another option is to use direct commands to recover a single data file from the H-ADCP recorder. The
following command sequence should be used. Note it is assumed the user has applied power to the
H-ADCP and has setup the communications cable and baud rate properly with a host computer using
BBTalk.
Step
Command/Action
1
Send Break
2
CR1
3
RR
4
RY##
5
Repeat step 4 to recover
another data file, or exit
Description
This is a >100ms transition signal sent to the H-ADCP to wake it up. The response will be to
receive the H-ADCP wake-up banner followed by a prompt ">". Example:
[BREAK Wakeup A]
WorkHorse Broadband ADCP Version 16.30
RD Instruments (c) 1996-2008
All rights reserved.
>
This places the H-ADCP in factory default mode. The H-ADCP will respond confirming that it has
been reset to factory defaults, and outputting a prompt. Example:
>cr1
[Parameters set to FACTORY defaults]
>
The H-ADCP will display the recorder's contents.
The RY command will start the Y-Modem protocol routine. The ## selects the file number you
wish to recover. Find your file in the H-ADCP recorder contents display. Ignoring the volume
name, FORMAT, and DIR listings at the top of the directory, as well as data files containing 0
bytes, count down from the top (first non-zero) data file to your file. If you see that your file is
the fifth file in the recorder, use RY05.
Once you send the RY## command you will be prompted to select your recording directory path
to save the recorder data. When you click OK, the download will begin. When your file is down-
loaded, the BBTalk program will display "Recovery Complete".
The Y-Modem when complete will stop. You can recover another file or turn off power to the H-
ADCP (and exit BBTalk if you are using this program).
