Turning on the System

Now that Office PhoneMail is connected to your Hicom system and, if applicable, your optional
port expansion card is installed, you are ready to turn on the unit.
1.
Plug the ac power cable into Office PhoneMail.
2.
Plug the ac power cable into a power outlet.
3.
Wait until the Office PhoneMail LED begins to blink.
The blinking status light indicates that Office PhoneMail is checking itself. This process
will take approximately five minutes. The status indicator will fast-blink when Office
PhoneMail is operational. If the system is unsuccessful in checking itself, the light will
blink according to the error cadences described in Appendix E, "Status Indicator Ca-
dences."

Test the Connection
Now that Office PhoneMail is powered on and operational, test the system by dialing into each
Office PhoneMail port and verifying that the system answers your call automatically.
To test individual ports:
1.
Dial the individual extension number of the first extension assigned as a voicemail port
type, as set in the first step of Section 5.1 on page 5-1.
2.
Wait for Office PhoneMail to answer the call.
3.
Repeat this test for the second voicemail extension, as set in the first step of Section 5.1 on
page 5-1.
4.
If you have the optional 4-port expansion card, repeat this test for extensions 3 and 4.
This completes the installation portion of your initial system setup. You are now ready to pro-
ceed to Chapter 6, "Setting Up Your System".
