Office PhoneMail Design Checklist
Indicate the Mailboxes to be Enabled
Indicate the mailboxes to be enabled (Section B.9, "Mailboxes Enabled", on page
B-3). Subscriber, guest, and information mailboxes must be enabled before owners
are allowed to set up and use their mailboxes. This security feature helps prevent un-
authorized use of the system. By default, only the general delivery mailbox (mailbox
9 or 0) is enabled.
Note that you should enable a subscriber's extension before you enable the corre-
sponding mailbox.
For additional information, refer to Section 6.5, "Enabling Office PhoneMail Mailboxes", on
page 6-6.
Indicate the Hicom Extensions to be Enabled
Indicate the extensions to be enabled (Section B.6, "Extensions to Enable", on page
B-2). Enable only the extensions that you want Office PhoneMail to transfer calls to.
You can not disable an extension if the mailbox for that extension is enabled.
For additional information, refer to Section 6.3, "Enabling Valid Office PhoneMail Exten-
sions", on page 6-3.
Determine the Human Attendant Parameters
Document the human attendant parameter settings (Section B.7, "Human Atten-
dant's Parameters", on page B-2). There are three distinct "attendant parameters" in
Office PhoneMail. The settings of these parameters determine how Office Phone-
Mail will route callers who either request human attendant assistance, or who "time
out" at the Auto Attendant by remaining on the line without pressing any TouchTone
keys. This is an important feature that allows callers to reach a human attendant for
help (thereby avoiding "Voice Mail Jail" complaints).
For additional information, refer to the Section 6.9, "Setting the Human Attendant Param-
eters", on page 6-11.
Determine Number of Fax Extensions
Indicate which extensions have fax machines connected (Section B.8, "Fax Exten-
sions", on page B-2). When set as a fax extension, Office PhoneMail will automati-
cally route the call to an available fax machine on extension 23, 24, 25, or 26 when
it detects fax carrier tone.
For additional information, refer to Section 6.7, "Setting the Fax Extension(s)", on page 6-9.
