Setting Up Your System
Accessing the System Administration Menu for the First Time
Enable one-time external administrator access.
Note that some changes you make to your system will not go into effect until you end
the current system administration session by hanging up the phone.
Once you have enabled your personal Office PhoneMail mailbox, you will be able to access the
system administration menu from your own mailbox (or indeed, from any enabled mailbox). But
the first time you access the system administration menu, your own mailbox will not yet have
been enabled for use, so you will have to access the administration menu from the only Office
PhoneMail mailbox that comes pre-enabled — that is, the general delivery mailbox.
The general delivery mailbox is unique in the Office PhoneMail system. It is designed to provide
call coverage and message taking for the human attendant, and its default number is 9 or 0,
depending on the country code.
The general delivery mailbox does not share all of the normal messaging properties
of other mailboxes in the Office PhoneMail system. For example, it is the only mail-
box that does not need to be specifically enabled in order to function. In addition,
messages sent from the general delivery mailbox to other mailboxes cannot be
marked "certified."
To access the system administration menu for the first time:
1. Pick up any internal phone and dial your voice mail access number.
Office PhoneMail will prompt you for a mailbox-password combination.

"4321" is the default password for all Office PhoneMail mailboxes. This password
can be changed at any time. For written information on changing passwords, mail-
box owners should refer to the Section "Setting Your Password" in the Hicom Of-
fice PhoneMail User Guide, but Office PhoneMail will guide you to the main mail-
box menu.
3. From the main mailbox menu, access the system administration menu by pressing
Office PhoneMail will prompt you to enter the system administration password.
Until you change this password, its default setting is 79723646 (SYSADMIN).
