Description
Use the password command to configure a password for a local user and specify whether to display the
password in ciphertext or plain text.
Use the undo password command to delete the password of a local user.
If neither cipher nor simple is specified, you set a plaintext password string in interactive mode. This
interactive mode is supported only on switches that support the password control feature. For more

When the password control feature is enabled globally (by using the password-control enable
command), local user passwords, such as the length and complexity, are under the restriction of the
password control feature, and will not be displayed. You cannot configure a password by using the
password hash cipher password command.
For security purposes, all passwords, including passwords configured in plain text, are saved in
ciphertext.
