In a redundant fan mode:
If one fan fails, the system continues to operate without redundancy. This condition is indicated
o
by a flashing amber Health LED.
If two fans fail, the system shuts down.
o
The minimum fan requirement for this server to power on is four fans (fans 1, 2, 3, and 4).

Installing the fan option

To install the component:
Power down all nodes
1.
Disconnect all peripheral cables from the nodes and chassis.
2.
Remove the node from the chassis (on page 32).
3.
If installed, remove the security bezel (on page 35).
4.
Remove all drives
5.
If installed, remove the RCM module (on page 34).
6.
Remove all power supplies
7.
Remove the chassis from the rack (on page 38).
8.
Remove the access panel
9.
Install the redundant fans in the left and right fan cages.
