Initiating a Conference Using the Built-In MCU of the Terminal
You can initiate a conference using the built-in MCU of the terminal. In this case, no additional
MCU resources are required.
Prerequisites
Before using the built-in MCU, the built-in MCU must be enabled from the relevant terminal.

Context
The procedure for initiating a conference using this method is similar to that of initiating a
conference using the preceding methods; thus, the procedure is not described in this section.
Initiating a Conference by Making Site-by-Site Calls
To host a multipoint conference using the built-in MCU of a terminal, you can call the first site,
and then call one site at a time.
For example, to use the built-in MCU of terminal A to initiate a conference that includes
terminals A, B, C, and D, perform the following steps:
From terminal A, call terminals B, C, and D until all the calls are set up.
Initiating a Conference by Cascading Built-In MCUs
By cascading built-in MCUs, you can expand the capability of a videoconferencing system and
hold a larger-scale video conference.
Context
A built-in MCU of a terminal can be cascaded to the following two types of MCUs:

The numbers 3, 4 and 6 are the numbers of sites including the local site with the built-in MCU, that is, the
built-in MCU site.
5.3 Setting Conference
TIP
l If the built-in MCU of a terminal is used during a conference, Lock conference can be selected from
the Conference control screen on the terminal whose built-in MCU is being used to prevent unwanted
additional sites joining the conference.
l If a site to be called is defined in the address book of the terminal with the built-in MCU, this site can
be called using the relevant site number or the site name.
Built-in MCU of a terminal
MCU in a videoconferencing system, for example, the ViewPoint 8660 MCU
Three levels of built-in MCUs or built-in MCUs in a loop cannot be cascaded.
If two built-in MCUs are cascaded, the built-in MCU that initiates the call is the master
MCU and the other built-in MCU is the slave MCU. If a built-in MCU and an MCU in a
