580 – 590 Oil Migration
Objective
Inspect behind the control board for excessive oil seeping through either the high limit pot
fitting, the temperature probe pot fitting, or the heating element fittings (figure 1). If oil
migration/ seepage is found, it will require removing and cleaning the fitting, applying pipe
thread sealant and then re-installing the fitting. If excessive oil is pooling around the contactors,
this is a more serious condition. Along with addressing the leaking fitting as noted above, this
will require the contactors shroud to be removed, the oil removed and the contactors re-
installed
Risk of Fire! Replace any contactors that have come in contact with oil. The oil
could prevent the contactor from operating properly.

Inspection Procedure
1. Remove the control board
2. Remove the heat/electrical shield
3. Inspect for oil seepage at the
temperature probe, high limit, and
heating element fittings.
4. Inspect the contactors
5. Address oil migration issues as
noted in the objective above
6. Install in reverse order.
