CONTROL WIRING

10.1
Control Wiring vs. Power Wiring
External control wrng MUST be run n a separate condut away from all other nput and
output power wrng . If control wrng s not kept separate from power wrng, electrcal nose
may be generated on the control wrng that wll cause erratc drve behavor . Use twsted
wres or shelded cable grounded at the drve chasss ONLY . Recommended control wre
s Belden 8760 (2-wre), 8770 (3-wre), or equvalent .
NOTE
Control termnals provde basc solaton (nsulaton per EN 61800-5-1) . Protecton
aganst contact can only be assured by addtonal measures e .g . supplemental
nsulaton .
Strp off 0 .20 to 0 .25 nches (5 to 6 mm) of nsulaton for control wrng, and torque the
control termnals to 2 lb-n (0 .2 Nm) . Be careful not to overtorque the control termnals, as
ths wll cause damage to the termnal strp . Ths s not covered under warranty and can
only be repared by replacng the control board .
10.2
TB-2: Circuit Common
The TB-2 termnal s used as crcut common for the analog speed reference nputs . If
necessary TB-2 may be connected to chasss ground .

Surge Suppression on Relays
Current and voltage surges and spkes n the cols of contactors, relays, solenods, etc,
near or connected to the drve, can cause erratc drve operaton . Therefore, a snubber
crcut should be used on cols assocated wth the drve . For AC cols, snubbers should
consst of a resstor and a capactor n seres across the col . For DC cols, a free-wheelng
or flyback dode should be placed across the col . Snubbers are typcally avalable from
the manufacturer of the devce .

Start/Stop Control

There are varous control schemes that allow for 2-wre and 3-wre Start/Stop crcuts . Refer
to the wrng dagrams n Secton 11, SCL/SCM CONTROL WIRING DIAGRAMS .
10.5
Speed Reference Signals
The drve allows for three analog speed reference nputs:
SPEED POT Connect the wper of a speed pot to termnal TB-5, and connect the hgh
and low end leads to termnals TB-6 and TB-2, respectvely . The speed
pot can be 2 .5kΩ up to 10kΩ .
0-10 VDC
Wre the postve to termnal TB-5 and the negatve to termnal TB-2 . TB-5
nput mpedance s 120kΩ .
4-20 mA
Wre the postve to termnal TB-25 and the negatve to termnal TB-2 .
TB-25 nput mpedance s 250Ω .
