POWER WIRING
DANGER!
Hazard of electrcal shock! Capactors retan charge after power s removed . Before
servcng the drve, dsconnect the ncomng power and wat untl the voltage between
termnals B+ and B- s 0 VDC .
Note the drve nput and output current ratngs and the check applcable electrcal codes for
requred wre type and sze, groundng requrements, over-current protecton, and ncomng
power dsconnect, before wrng the drve . Sze conservatvely to mnmze voltage drop .
Input fusng and a power dsconnect swtch or contactor MUST be wred n seres wth
termnals L1 and L2/N (on sngle-phase nput models), or termnals L1, L2, and L3 (on
three-phase nput models) . Ths dsconnect must be used to power down the drve when
servcng, or when the drve s not to be operated for a long perod of tme, but should not
be used to start and stop the motor .
Repetitive cycling of a disconnect or input contactor (more than once every two
minutes) may cause damage to the drive.
8.1
Input and Output Wiring
On sngle phase nput models, wre the nput power to termnals L1 and L2/N . On three
phase nput models, wre the nput power to termnals L1, L2, and L3 . Refer to Secton 9,
SCL/SCM POWER WIRING DIAGRAM .
Keep all three power output wres, from termnals U, V, and W to the motor, tghtly bundled
and run them n a separate condut away from all other power and control wrng .
It s not recommended to nstall contactors or dsconnect swtches between the drve and
motor . Operatng such devces whle the drve s runnng can potentally cause damage
to the drve's power components . If such a devce s requred, t should only be operated
when the drve s n a STOP state . If there s potental for the devce to be opened whle
the drve s runnng, the drve must be programmed for COAST to stop (refer to Parameter
4 - STOP METHOD), and an auxlary contact on the devce must be nterlocked wth the
drve's run crcut . Ths wll gve the drve a stop command at the same tme the devce
opens, and wll not allow the drve to start agan untl the devce s closed .
