7.4 Installation According to EMC Requirements
The SCM and SCL Seres can be nstalled to meet the European standards for
Electromagnetc Compatblty (EMC) requrements . These requrements govern the
permssble electromagnetc emssons and mmunty, both radated and conducted, of
a drve system .
The EMC requrements apply to the final nstallaton n ts entrety, not to the ndvdual
components used . Because every nstallaton s dfferent, the recommended nstallaton
should follow these gudelnes as a mnmum . Addtonal equpment (such as ferrte core
absorbers on power conductors) or alternatve wrng practces may be requred to meet
conformance n some nstallatons .
Filter: The nput to the drve (or group of drves) must nclude a filter to reduce the electrcal
nose reflected back to the AC Lne . The SCL Seres ncludes a filter that has been tested
to meet the ndustral standards set by the EU, EN 61800-3 for conducted emssons and
EN 55011 for radated emssons to class A complance when nstalled n a control cabnet
wth a motor cable < 10m . The SCM can be nstalled to meet these same standards when
used wth an approprately nstalled external lne filter .
