3. BRAKE CASE

(1) Cam Plate

In the brake case, there are four brake discs (4) splined to the brake shaft (9), four brake plates (5) arranged
between each brake discs, a brake piston (8), a cam plate (1), and steel balls (10) set in the grooves of transmission
case (11).
Travelling Brake Operation
When the brake pedal is depressed, pressurized oil enters into the space between the brake piston (8) and brake
case (3) through the master cylinder, the equalizer and the brake pipe. The brake piston (8) moves to the right in the
figure and presses the brake plate (5) against the disc (4).
Parking Brake Operation
When the parking brake lever is set, the cam plate (1) rotates by the link mechanics and the cam lever (2). At the
same time, the cam plate (1) moves to the right in the figure with the steel ball (10) and depresses the brake piston (8).
