If the symptom changed, check for loose cards and obvious problems. If you
do not find a problem, return to "Step 1540-1" on page 58 and follow the
instructions for the new symptom.
YES
The last device or cable that you disconnected is defective.
Exchange the defective device or cable.
Go to "MAP 410: Repair Checkout" in RS/6000 and Eserver pSeries
Diagnostic Information for Multiple Bus Systems.
Step 1540-19
1. Follow the instructions on the screen to select the system console.
2. When the DIAGNOSTIC OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS screen is displayed, press
Enter.
3. Select Advanced Diagnostics Routines.
4. If the DEFINE TERMINAL screen is displayed, you must define the terminal
following the instructions on the screen before you can continue with the
diagnostics. This is a separate and different operation from selecting the console
display.
5. If the NEW RESOURCE screen displays, select an option from the bottom of the
screen.
Note: Adapters or devices that require supplemental media are not shown in the
new resource list. If the system has adapters or devices that require
supplemental media, select option 1.
6. When the DIAGNOSTIC MODE SELECTION screen is displayed, press Enter.
7. Select All Resources (if you were sent here from "Step 1540-23" on page 72,
select the adapter/device you loaded from the supplemental media).
Did you get an SRN?
NO
Go to "Step 1540-21" on page 72.
YES
Go to "Step 1540-20."
Step 1540-20
Look at the FRU part numbers associated with the SRN, or perform the action indicated
by the SRN.
Have you exchanged all the FRUs that correspond to the failing function codes?
NO
Exchange the FRU with the highest failure percentage that has not been
changed.
Repeat this step until all the FRUs associated with the SRN have been
exchanged or diagnostics has run with no trouble found. Run diagnostics after
each FRU is exchanged.
If the system board or a network adapter is replaced, see note 3 on page 41.
