Starting and Stopping the Server in Console Mode
To start the Nortel Quality Monitoring Server in Console Mode:
1 Use a text editor such as Notepad to open the 'server.ini' file, located in
the Nortel Quality Monitoring Server folder (typically D:\Program
Files\Nortel\Nortel Quality Monitoring Server\).
2 Change the SilentRun setting from '1' to '0' in the [Kernel]
section, then save your changes. For more information about the
'server.ini' file, see the Nortel Quality Monitoring Server Infrastructure
Guide.
3 Save the changes to the file.
4 In the Windows Services control utility, set the WitnessService to
Disabled or Manual mode.
5 In Windows Explorer, navigate to and double-click 'kernel.exe'.
'kernel.exe' is located in the Nortel Quality Monitoring Server folder
(typically D:\Program Files\Nortel\Nortel Quality Monitoring Server\).
To stop the Nortel Quality Monitoring Server in Console Mode, click in
the Kernel window, and then press Q on your keyboard.
Reverting to Service Mode
To revert to Service Mode, follow these steps:
1 Use a text editor such as Notepad to open the 'server.ini' file, located in
the Nortel Quality Monitoring Server folder (typically D:\Program
Files\Nortel\Nortel Quality Monitoring Server\).
2 Change the SilentRun setting from '0' to '1' in the [Kernel] section.
3 In the Windows Services control utility, set the WitnessService to
Automatic mode.
