configuration takes precedence over the neighbor next-hop-self command.

neighbor password

Enable message digest 5 (MD5) authentication on the TCP connection between two neighbors.

Syntax
neighbor {ip-address | peer-group-name} password [encryption-type]
password
To delete a password, use the no neighbor {ip-address | peer-group-name}
password command.

Enter the IP address of the router to be included in the peer
group.
Enter the name of a configured peer group.
(OPTIONAL) Enter 7 as the encryption type for the password
entered. 7 means that the password is encrypted and hidden.
Enter a text string up to 80 characters long. The first character
of the password must be a letter.
You cannot use spaces in the password.
