Braided Lead Wire Repair
The rear
defogger bus bar lead
wire or
terminal
can
be
reattached by
resoldering
using a
solder
containing 3% silver and
a rosin
flux paste.
# Before
soldering
the
bus
bar, repair area
should
be buffed
with
fine
steel
wool This
removes
the
oxide
coating
formed
during
glass
manufacture.
• Apply the paste-type rosin flux in small quantities
to the wire lead and bus bar repair area using a
brush.
• The soldering iron tip should be coated with
solder beforehand. Use only enough heat to melt
the solder and only enough solder to ensure a
complete repair.
• Do not overheat the wire when resoldering it to
the bus bar.
