RECEIVE AND TRANSMIT

■ Operating SSB

Before transmitting, monitor your selected operating
frequency to make sure you don't cause interference
to other stations on the same frequency.

Push a band key to select desired band.

Push the Mode key [SSB] to select the SSB mode.
• "USB" or "LSB" is displayed.
• Below 10 MHz LSB is automatically selected, above 10
MHz USB is automatically selected.
• Push [SSB] again to select the LSB or USB mode.

Rotate [MAIN DIAL] to tune a desired signal.
• The S-meter indicates received signal strength when a
signal is received.

Rotate [AF] to set the audio to a comfortable listen-
ing level.

Rotate [RF PWR] to adjust the output power.
• The TX power readout displays the setting level.

Push the Multi-function [METER](
the ALC meter.

Transmit.
• Push [TRANSMIT] or [PTT] (microphone).
• The [TX] indicator lights red.

Rotate [MIC] to adjust the microphone gain.
• While speaking into the microphone at your normal voice
level, adjust the microphone gain so that the ALC meter
reading swings within 30 to 50% of the ALC scale.

After your transmission is finished, returns to re-
ceive.
• Push [TRANSMIT] or release [PTT].
