Tax Programming

The ER-285M Series has the capability to support four separate taxes.
Taxes can be calculated as either a straight percentage rate between .001% and 99.999%, or a
60 break point tax table. Each tax may be either an add-on tax (added to the cost of a taxable
item), or a value added tax (VAT) that is included in the price of the item.
Tax rate 4 may be set to function as the Canadian Goods & Services Tax (GST). Definitions
for tax rates 1, 2, 3 & 4 are made as part of tax programming.
Important Note: After you have entered your tax program(s), test for accuracy by
entering several transactions of different dollar amounts. Carefully check to make sure
the tax charged by the cash register matches the tax on the printed tax chart for your
area. As a merchant, you are responsible for accurate tax collection. If the cash register
is not calculating tax accurately, contact your dealer for assistance.
