OFF:
Indicates that the printer is offline.
Display window (LCD): 3
Consists of the message area (16 columns x 2) and the graphics area. The message area dis-
plays the status of the printer or the name of the currently functioning menu. The graphics
area displays a graphic representation of the printer that shows the area of the printer to
which an error message applies.
When paper jam or door open has occurred, the status of the printer and appropriate action
will be indicated with message and graphic.
See chapter 4 section V or appendix section V for types of status displays.
ROTATE key: 4
Use this key to rotate the developing rotary when replacing the toner cartridge. Pressing the
key once will move the toner cartridge by one color.
MENU key: 5
Press this key to cycle through the top-level menus.
Press this key to escape back to the top-level menu from any of the setup submenus with-
out accepting the selected value.
If the printer is in Ready or Power Saver Mode, press this key to go to Setup mode.
ENTER key: 6
Accepts the item displayed in the message area of the display window.
If you press the ENTER key when READY or POWER SAVER MODE is displayed in the mes-
sage area, the printer goes offline, and goes back online if you press it again.
CANCEL key: 7
Use this key from any menu item at any time to go back to Ready. If this key is pressed
while changing settings, the changes will not take effect. If this key is pressed during print-
ing, it stops printing or processing the current job.
Right arrow key: 8
Advances the cursor to the right when entering text or numbers.
Left arrow key: 9
Deletes the last character when entering text or numbers.
Up arrow key: 10
When a display offers options (such as Yes or No), press this key to cycle through the options.
When entering numbers or text, decrements to the previous number or character. Hold
down the key to decrement rapidly.
Down arrow key: 11
When a display offers options (such as Yes or No), press this key to cycle through the options.
When entering numbers or text, increments to the next number or character. Hold down the
key to increment rapidly.
Note:
Before you change the setup, it's a good idea to print the current printer configuration,
in case you need to restore the original settings later.
