Power Steering
Poor, Erratic or No Assist
1. Drive belt
2. Low fluid level
3. Air in system
4. Leaking hoses
5. Steering cables and/or steering helm
6. Binding in sterndrive unit
7. Restriction in hydraulic hoses
8. Control valve not positioned properly,
not balanced properly, or the mounting nut
is loose
9. Mounting bracket adjusting screw
loose or mounting tube is loose
10. Faulty pump
11. Worn piston ring or scored housing
bore in cylinder
12. Leaking valve body or loose fitting
spool

Special Information
1. Worn, broken or out of adjustment
3. Air leak in lines, pump, or air from
installation. Refer to SECTION 9A for
bleeding procedure.

5. Cable or helm partially frozen from
corrosion or rust; cable over-lubricated;
improper cable installation
