IOLAN+ will need to login to the authentication host with
the log user name defined on the Host Authentication And
Logging screen. Therefore, you need to create an account to
be used by IOLAN+ (avoid csh shell). Make sure the user
can log in successfully. Also, make sure the user is not
prompted for any input and ends up at a shell prompt.
The User ID IOLAN+ will use to log in to
the authentication host and log messages.
This user needs to be at a shell prompt to
'cat' messages to the log file. The
password for the log user is set up under
the IOLAN+ Administration Menu -
Change option. Then choose the Logger
option and enter the log user's password
as defined on the host. You will have to
enter this password twice. (See 5.4 Tips. )
The filename the log user will send its
messages to. Normally this will go to the
log user's home directory.
IOLAN+ will log when it is powered up
and rebooted.
IOLAN+ will log when a user logs in and
out of a port on IOLAN+.
IOLAN+ will log when someone
connects to and disconnects from a port
on IOLAN+.
IOLAN+ will log a PPP, SLIP or CSLIP
service when started on the port.
