4.10.51 Domain-Subnet-Node Address

Each router stores its Twin's 709 domain-subnet-node address for both the IP and non IP

709 interfaces. This is used to send the monitoring and diagnostic messages. This is dis-

played here. The same domain must be used for both the IP and non IP sides.

4.10.52 Sync Data From Twin & Sync Data To Twin

Select [F] from the menu and press ENTER to sync data from twin.

Select [T] from the menu and press ENTER to sync data from twin.

These option force manual synchronization of conﬁguration data. Sync packets use the

852 interface only and do not require that a devices 709 (IP or non IP) interfaces be conﬁg-

ured. This enables one to bootstrap the conﬁguration of twinned devices or to do in ﬁeld

replacement without a network management tool.

Sync Data From Twin requests a sync packet from the Twin and overwrites the requesting

Twin's conﬁg data with that stored on the requested twin.

Sync Data To Twin sends a sync packet to that device's Twin and overwrites the twin's

conﬁg data. In the case of the subnet/node address, if the sync packet has zeros for the sub-

net/node address then the zeros are not written over nonzero subnet node addresses.

The manual sync allows one to replicate or retrieve the subnet/node address of its twin.

There are two ways to set the subnet/node address of a router's twin. The ﬁrst way is to use

the serial console on each device and the appropriate interface detail menu to set the

device's subnet/node addresses. The second way is to use a network management tool to

commission the devices.

Once both of the routers have had their 709 and 709 IP interfaces conﬁgured and the twin

IP address and port is set on each, perform both manual synchronization from twin and a

manual synchronization to twin one of the routers. Once completed both routers will have

each other's twin subnet/node addresses.

Two manually replace a router ﬁrst perform a Sync from Twin on the new router to get its

Subnet/node stored on its twin.

4.10.53 Clear Twin 709 Conﬁguration

Select [C] from the menu and press ENTER.

Enter Y and press ENTER. The twin 709 conﬁguration will be cleared. Hit N and Enter or

Enter without typing a letter and the clear will be aborted.
