3.1 Hardware Setup

This section contains complete documentation for the installation of the GadgetGateway
in simple LonWorks networks. The following step-by-step instructions indicated below
can be used to install the Gateway onto a public IP network.
1. Attach the provided cable between the Gateway's Serial Setup Port and a serial port on
your PC.
2. Connect a standard Ethernet patch cable between the Ethernet/IP connector and your IP
network.
3. Attach a 5-Volt @ 1000 mA power supply to the Power Supply Input port.
4. Attach a twisted pair wire between the ANSI/EIA 709.1 Interface connector and the
LonWorks network.
5. Use HyperTerminal (Microsoft Windows) or another terminal emulation program to
access the Serial Setup Menus. The communication parameters are as follows: 9600
baud, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, hardware flow control.
6. In order for the GadgetGateway to function on the IP network, you must assign an IP
address and a subnet mask to the hardware. Optionally, you may wish to set a User ID
and password in the Tools and Diagnostic Menu and complete the configuration with a
Web browser (See Section 4.11, "Tools and Diagnostic Menu" ).
Note: Save configuration data after completing the configuration steps. Manually entered
configuration data will be lost on a reboot unless it is saved first. To save configuration
data to flash Select [S] from the Main Menu and press ENTER. (See Section 4.3.4)

3.2 Default Password

The GadgetGateway router comes with a default password for configuration changes. The
default password is "Gadget". The password is case sensitive.
