Note: Save configuration data after completing the configuration steps. Manually entered
configuration data will be lost on a reboot unless it is saved first. To save configuration
data to flash Select [S] from the Main Menu and press ENTER. (See Section 4.3.4)
3.8 Configuring GadgetGateways with DDNS Routers.
The DDNS support mode enables a GadgetGateway router to operate on the LAN side of
the NAT (Network Address Translation) router that is also a DDNS client. Routers of this
type may have dynamic IP addresses. Please refer to Figure 3.6 for a diagram of the sys-
tem architecture.
This section contains step-by-step instructions on how to set up a GadgetGateway router
for operation on the LAN side of a NAT-DDNS router. For details on how to execute the
sequence of commands described below refer to Section 4.5.
1. Follow the instructions in the previous section for setting up NAT support with the
exception that the GadgetGateway must be in manual mode and the NAT WAN address
of the NAT-DDNS router does not have to be entered.
2. Using the serial or web interface, set the DDNS domain name of the NAT router (SEE
Section 4.5.16). If you do not have a DDNS domain name for the NAT-DDNS router,
you must go to dyndns.org and register for one.
3. Using either the serial or web interface, set the DDNS refresh time (See Section 4.5.18
or Section 5.8).
4. Using either the serial or web interface, set the DNS server names (See Section 4.5.19
or Section 5.8).
5. Using either the serial or web interface, enable DDNS (See Section 4.5.17 or
Section 5.8).
6. Using either the serial or web interface, set the DNS server names (See Section 4.5.19
or Section 5.8).
7. To verify DDNS is working manually look up the IP address using either the web or
serial interface (See Section 4.5.20 or Section 5.8). The routers dynamic IP address
should show up in the NAT WAN address field.
8. Continue configuring the GG in Manual mode (See Section 3.3) to add other 852
devices to its channel etc.
