7. The GadgetGateway and LonMaker will now be able to communicate with each other
over IP and to tunnel packets between each other. LonMaker can now manage the
ANSI/EIA 709.1 network that is attached to the GadgetGateway. ANSI/EIA 709.1
devices can be installed on the ANSI/EIA 709.1 side of the GadgetGateway, and Lon-
Maker will be able to manage those devices.
8. Commission devices using LonMaker or another ANSI/EIA 709.1 management tool.
Note: Save configuration data after completing the configuration steps. Manually entered
configuration data will be lost on a reboot unless it is saved first. To save configuration
data to flash Select [S] from the Main Menu and press ENTER. (See Section 4.3.4)
3.7 Configuring GadgetGateways with NAT Routers
The NAT support mode enables a GadgetGateway router to operate on the LAN side of the
NAT (Network Address Translation) router. Please refer to Figure 3.6 for a diagram of the
system architecture.
This section contains step-by-step instructions on how to set up a GadgetGateway router
for operation on the LAN side of a NAT router. For details on how to execute the sequence
of commands described below refer to Section 4.4.
1. Using the serial connection, set up an IP address, subnet mask, and Gateway address
for the router. The address of the router must be a static IP from the LAN side of the
