2.17 FDA drive control

FDA drive control handle 3 (Figure 2.17.1) has three fixed positions:
"FDA off" – extreme lower (front) position. It is used for transport operations carried
out on roads with hard surface.
"FDA engages and disengages automatically" – middle position. In this mode the
FDA is engaged and disengaged automatically by means of freewheel clutch depending on
the rear-wheel skidding. It is used for carrying out all kinds of field operations.
"FDA positive activation" – extreme upper (back) position. Use this mode only in case
the rear wheels skid repeatedly and the tractor is travelling backward, when the FDA en-
gagement is necessary.
Set the FDA drive into positions "FDA engages and disengages automatically" and
"FDA positive activation" when the tractor starts moving.
Shift the FDA drive from the positions "FDA engages and disengages automatically"
and "FDA positive activation" to the position "FDA off" when the tractor starts moving with
the clutch pedal fully depressed. If the FDA drive disengagement is hampered, do not apply
much effort to the control handle and do the following:
- depress the clutch pedal;
- change the gear to move in the direction opposite to the operational one (i.e. if the
forward travel gear was set previously, set the reverse travel gear, and vice versa);
- release the clutch pedal smoothly and when the tractor starts moving set the con-
trol handle into the position "FDA off".
