Determining the tool center point (TCP) using the FM+
The tool center point (TCP) is usually located on the beam axis on the focus plane.
1.
Align the FM+ as described in
chapter 7.2.3 „Align the device" on
page 19.
2.
Install the FM+ as described in chap-
ter 7.2.4 „Mount the device" on
page 22.
3.
Perform an automatic caustic measurement
as described in chapter 9.11 „Automatic
Caustic" on page 61.
4.
Move the measuring carrier of the FM+ to
the determined focus plane as described
in chapter 9.4.3 „Move vertical carrier for
setup" on page 33.
The FM+ moves the reference plane to
the focus position.
5.
Measure the Distance z between the refer-
ence plane of the horizontal carrier and the
reference plane on the laser processing
head.

Where z is the distance from the reference
plane at the laser processing head to the
workpiece surface.
